Bengaluru: India’s growing pickleball community is set for a historic moment as the first-ever Indian Pickleball Nationals 2025 gets underway from November 13 to 16 at The Sports School, Bengaluru. The event is being organized by the Karnataka Pickleball Association (KPA) under the banner of the Indian Pickleball Association (IPA).
This inaugural edition marks a major step for the sport following its official recognition by the National Sports Federation (NSF) earlier this year. The championship will feature over 1,200 players representing more than 20 states, competing across multiple age and skill divisions — from Under-12 to 70-plus, in men’s, women’s, and mixed categories.
“The Nationals represent a defining milestone for pickleball in India, and hosting it in Bengaluru is a matter of pride,” said Harsha, President of the Karnataka Pickleball Association.
“With the Government of India’s recognition, pickleball has found new identity and momentum. Through our ‘Mission One Million’ programme, we aim to introduce the sport to students in government and aided schools across Karnataka,” he added.
During a media briefing held at Bangalore City University, India footballer Ashique Kuruniyan lauded the initiative, calling it another example of India’s expanding sporting landscape.
“Pickleball is easy to learn, inclusive, and engaging for players of all fitness levels. It’s great to see it growing across the country,” he remarked.

Srinivas T.R., Co-founder of The Sports School, emphasized the institution’s continued commitment to nurturing emerging sports.
“We believe pickleball has a bright future in India. Over time, a clear career pathway will emerge, and we are proud to be a part of this foundation-building stage,” he said.
The announcement event also saw the presence of Gunaranjan Shetty, President of the Karnataka Wrestling Association. Sabala, a wellness and active lifestyle brand, serves as the title partner for this inaugural championship.
With national recognition, enthusiastic participation, and institutional backing, Pickleball India appears poised for a strong and sustained rise on the country’s sporting map.
